Amazing Smith

Graeme Smith played one of the best innings chasing and led South Africa to a series victory against England in England. I think his innings belongs in the same league as Mark Butcher's 170-odd against Australia a few years ago and the centuries by Gilchrist and Langer at Hobart against Pakistan back in 99. All of these knocks helped their teams chase down big fourth innings totals. In the process he led to the demise of the England captain for the second time in two visits to England.

I wasnt a big fan of Smith. But this innings and the way he's led the South African team over the last couple of years makes me think he's probbably the best captain in the international circuit right now. I know a lot of people would side with Ponting or Jayawardane but if I selected a XI, Smith would be an automatic choice to open and lead the team.
