Whatta finale!

Rafeal Nadal won, Roger Federer did not and Bjorn Borg smiled! But what a game! In what will go down as one of the classic finales, Nadal bested Federer in five sets. Nadal won the first two and then after a rain break, Federer came back to win the next two in tie-breakers and then the final set, which I saw completely, was a humdinger! It went back and forth and Nadal prevailed in the end. Federer had far too many unforced errors and that might have done it for him.
In this day of trash talk and all that, it was refreshing to see two athletes, competing at the highest level, that have great respect and regard for each other.
The Federer-Nadal rivalry has been the one to follow this decade. I do not know how this compares with the other rivalries (McEnroe-Borg, McEnroe-Connors, Edberg-Becker [some might question that, but that's ok!], Sampras-Agassi) in the last two decades. Such comparisons are fun but fruitless in the end.
Anyway, kudos to the finalists.
BTW, John McEnroe, who was conducting the post-final interview, cut short his interview with Federer after he saw Federer's eye well up with tears! It was surprising because Federer was holding up pretty well after the game and was sporting his $300,000 smile as always. But probably he had had enough. John Mac, then gave him a hug and let him go!

The Federer-Nadal rivalry belongs right up there with the best of them. This year has belonged to Nadal so far. Maybe he'll become the first since Agassi to win all four Grand Slams.
